Installation

Upgrading to polyurethane bushings requires pressing out the old rubber units and installing the new bushings — a task that can be done with a typical BMW bushing removal cup kit or a hydraulic press. The Garagistic Polyurethane E39 RTABs can be pressed or tapped into place when installing into the the swing arm bushing housings.

It’s important to lubricate polyurethane bushings properly with a silicone PTFE grease to prevent squeaking or unwanted noise. While polyurethane offers performance advantages, it does transmit more vibration and noise into the cabin compared to rubber. For a daily-driven E39, this trade-off is generally minimal with high-quality polyurethane, but it’s worth considering based on your comfort preference.
